If you’re in a rush then don’t worry, just buy your ticket on the train – there are no penalty fares. For the best value, and to be sure of a seat, always buy your tickets online though – you can book up to 12 weeks ahead.

For those constantly on the move, the easiest way to buy tickets. Available from summer 2008.
Over the telephone
Call us on 0845 260 5900. Lines open from 07.00 to 22.00 seven days a week.
On the train
Board the train and ask the train manager for a ticket – there's no penalty fare to pay.
At a station
Buy your ticket from any staffed National Rail station.
At a travel agent
Many travel agents can sell you rail tickets too.
